EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Worth investigating for bound, text-heavy material.

The ET24 Pro's overhead design and software-assisted page handling make it a plausible candidate for books and documents. The independent evidence is positive about text capture, but setup, lighting and software workflow deserve as much attention as the camera figure. This is a reason to investigate, not a measured recommendation from us.

What the current specifications say

Manufacturer-published ET24 Pro figures; not Workwell Lab measurements

These figures come from the named ET24 Pro tab on CZUR specifications. The family page also contains shared marketing copy, so we do not apply every ET-series claim to this model. Check the model-specific CZUR support before buying.

What independent reviewers actually reported

In August 2022, PCMag, 2022 described strong OCR results in its Windows 10 test and useful capture controls. Its reported success with small printed test text is evidence about that setup and material—not a guarantee for handwriting, damaged pages, another language or today's software.

The same review identified missing wireless and network connectivity and emphasized that manual page handling affects end-to-end speed. A nominal capture interval does not include all the time needed to position, turn, check and export pages.

In April 2022, The Gadgeteer, 2022 found curve correction useful but described a software learning curve and interface friction. Its author also reported glare on glossy material and a need to adjust the lighting arrangement. The article disclosed a sample supplied by CZUR.

These reviews describe historical software. They are useful evidence to examine, but neither establishes that every reported strength or weakness remains unchanged in a current release.

The benefits and the questions to carry forward

Reasons to consider it

  • Overhead capture avoids feeding bound pages through a sheet feeder.
  • External reviewers found useful page correction and text-recognition features.
  • Foot control can leave your hands available for page handling.

Reasons to pause

  • Loose-page office batches may suit a feeder workflow better.
  • Learning, cropping checks and page-turning remain part of the task.
  • Glossy pictures require representative sample checks; OCR quality is not color-reproduction quality.

A small discussion, not a buyer consensus

The Gadgeteer's ET24 article has a small public discussion: a lighting suggestion, a resolution correction and a reader's selection question. These are not three verified purchaser reviews. We use the discussion to identify verification points rather than a satisfaction score.

The early Gadgeteer specification table says 360dpi, whereas the current manufacturer's ET24 tab and PCMag report 320dpi. An April 18, 2022 comment also questions the 360 figure. We report 320dpi as the current manufacturer's stated figure, and do not claim to have measured it ourselves.

We do not transfer ET Max complaints from the manufacturer's mixed-model review widget to ET24 Pro.

Before ordering

  1. Confirm that the listing is ET24 Pro, not another ET model or bundle.
  2. Check the current software for your operating system and processor.
  3. Inspect output from bound and glossy material like yours.
  4. Check included controls, side lighting, power adapter and return terms.
  5. Plan page order, filenames, backups and OCR proofreading.

Questions before you buy

Have you tested this scanner?

No. We are synthesizing identified sources. External tests belong to their named publishers.

Does 320dpi guarantee accurate OCR?

No. Recognition depends on the input, language, typography, image quality and software. Proofread important text.

Should I choose ET24 Pro over ET Max?

The published figures alone are insufficient to name a universal winner. Read our model comparison and verify the current listings against your material.
